As part of the wide framework of collaborations activated in the recent past, algoWatt and the University of Genoa have signed a new agreement for the activation and funding of a doctorate of the PhD course in Sciences and Technologies for Electrical Engineering and Complex Systems for Mobility (XXXVI cycle).

The aim of the agreement is to train an industrial researcher in the research and innovation sectors of interest to the company, in particular in the domain of Digital Energy with particular reference to Smart Grids, Virtual Power Plants (VPP) and 3D Energy Model ( Decarbonization, Decentralization, Digitalization).

The four-year agreement was signed by Prof. Matteo Pastorino , Director of DITEN – Department of Naval, Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering of UNIGE, and by Laura Bizzarri , Managing Director of algoWatt.

In the context of applications to the Digital Energy domain, the educational objectives of the PhD course will include:

  • the development of Big Data analytics, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills;
  • the development of Information & amp; skills Communication Techonolgy (ICT);
  • the development of modeling and analysis skills with particular reference to Smart Grids and Virtual Power Plants (VPP); and finally
  • the development of technical / managerial skills in the context of research projects funded at the Italian, regional and / or European level.

Scientific representatives of the PhD will be Eng. Stefano Bianchi, Research & amp; Innovation Manager of algoWatt, and prof. Federico Silvestro of DITEN.

The signing of the agreement between the University of Genoa and algoWatt further consolidates an already thriving relationship aimed at an ever greater interaction between academia and industry, contributing to the competitiveness and innovation of the energy sector.
