The development of technological solutions and services in support of sustainable mobility takes on particular characteristics when the targeted area consists of rural areas, as the case of the Region Liguria, that are characterized by activities and mobility flows which vary depending on periods and seasons.

THE PROJECT

In addition to the criticalities related to the territorial structure, to the problems of connection with the primary transport networks, to the reachability of residential areas, also the effects of significant tourist flows (and associated traffic and logistic) concentrated in particular times of the year must be considered. These factors are also always related to the impacts on a vulnerable and valuable landscape and to the need to calibrate interventions and solutions for effective use even in the peak tourist season.

At the same time it is necessary to integrate these factors with spatial aspects such as environmental monitoring and management, also in relation to the occurrence of particular events (e.g. extraordinary weather conditions such as the recent floods), in order to provide dynamic and effective responses even from the point of view of mobility.

The PIN4MOB project addresses this reference application context (which is of great importance for the Region Liguria) with the aim to study, develop and validate, in a real application and with the involvement of local stakeholders, ICT solutions and services for the sustainable mobility for efficient logistics and reduced environmental impact.
