TerniEnergia, a company operating in the renewable energy sector and listed on MTA of Borsa Italiana, completed and connected to the medium voltage distribution net, managed by Asm of Terni, the greatest Italian PV plant as coverage of an industrial premise that was performed by Energie S.r.l., a joint venture company equally owned by TerniEnergia and EDF EN Italia in the context of Power Generation activity. Such a PV plant was placed on the roof of Tubificio di Terni S.p.A., a company belonging to ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni group, specializing in the production of stainless steel welded for catalytic converters and decorative uses.

The plant has a total power amounting approximately to 2.2 MWp and it was built and connected to the electric net in a two month period only. It is placed on an approximately 45,000 square meterssurface and it is totally integrated in the coverage of industrial sheds, thanks to the restructuring and adjustment of the flat roof that were completed by TerniEnergia. For the purpose of such building activity 9.724 Yingli Solar panels and 7 PowerOne inverters were used.

The photovoltaic power station will produce approximately 2,300.000 kWh/year of electric energy, able to satisfy the energy needs of 1.000 families and to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions for an amount of 1.378 tons per year. Such a plant strengthens the leadership of Terni, and of Umbria more generally speaking, in the electric energy from renewable non polluting sources production.

The completion of Tubificio plant in Terni, that follows the construction of a plant as coverage of the Acciaierie car park in 2008, was possible thanks to the collaboration with ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni, a company that is a European leader in the steel sector, such a sector being notably sensitive in matter of emissions reduction and pollution in the urban area restraint and which granted to the JV between TerniEnergia and EDF EN the so covered surface of its premise, pursuant to an agreement that will be in force for a 20 year period.

The performance of such a project is a positive example of a great synergies between TerniEnergia and ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni, which are two industrial players strongly settled in the territory and which allowed a very quick achievement of a so useful for the environment and energy efficient objective also thanks to the collaboration of Azienda Multiservizi di Terni.
