GESPER focused on:

• enterprise knowledge formalization and rationalization – to allow all stakeholders to quickly and efficiently share production process information;
• enterprise knowledge classification and management – to unify technical and cultural approach in production process definition;
• enterprise knowledge gathering and extension – to ease reuse of previous expertise;
• enterprise knowledge mining (research functionalities) – to support the exploitation of the information collected in the development of new production processes;
• enterprise knowledge sharing – to establish better collaboration between working groups and industrial clusters in complex and critical project activities.

GESPER studied and designed a set of services to facilitate management and reuse of expertise in software production process, in particular by SME clusters.

GESPER enterprise knowledge management cycle includes:

• enterprise knowledge capturing and gathering – expertise formalization in terms of expertise unit definition
• enterprise memory management – extension and update of available expertise units, inclusion of new expertise units
• enterprise knowledge reuse – problem solving based on previous expertise in similar production processes / application scenarios (expertise unit filtering and customzied views)

Finally, GESPER (web) Window allows to publish a selection of knowledge expertise for the convenience of other IT companies, so to support commercial offer finalized to the establishment of SMEs clusters and networks.
