RAISE
The RAISE (Robotics and AI for Socio-economic Empowerment) project, which envisages a budget of Euro 120 million, drawing on the resources foreseen for the NRRP, has the objective of assuming a reference role in the outlined area of specialization (Robotics and IA) at national and international level through the skills already present and consolidated in the Ligurian territory.
The project aims to support the development of an innovation ecosystem based on the scientific and technological domains of AI and Robotics, focusing on the needs of a specific regional context, namely the Liguria Region. The project aspires to evolve into a highly attractive ecosystem for businesses, investors and researchers, both nationally and internationally. The proposed project is rooted in a regional territory characterized by scientific, technological and economic specificities (full consistency with regional Smart Specialization). Liguria appears as an open-air laboratory in which demographic trends manifested themselves earlier than in any other part of the world (for a series of historical reasons) and right here are some of the largest robotic and AI research laboratories present in Italy with scientific programs that explore the coexistence of intelligent machines alongside man to improve the quality of life and work, ("Robot Valley").
In this perspective, it aims to build on strengths and help reduce weaknesses, by leveraging existing resources and capabilities, as well as generating new opportunities through effective and efficient knowledge transfer. The idea behind this ecosystem is to coordinate and enhance these projects in a logic of integration of the technology transfer system, using the local market as an extraordinary and immediate laboratory for experimentation.
The ecosystem represents a sort of "engine" for rewriting the foundations of industrialization through robotics and artificial intelligence, also to face the energy challenge and include solid ethical and human-centred planning, creating stable and virtuous connections between actors involved and implementing an environment that favors innovation with high economic and social impact.
CONSORTIUM
The RAISE ecosystem includes 33 projects with affiliated partners represented by small and medium-sized regional enterprises and sees the participation of UniGe, IIT and CNR as founders together with the Liguria Region, FILSE, Liguria Digitale, ANCI Liguria, the CIMA Foundation and the Job Centre. Over 50% of the funds received will be dedicated to companies through cascading tenders or specific technology transfer projects for the creation of the ecosystem.
