Complex Organizations, in the context of TECDOC, are defined as systems composed by different independent decision makers (industry, university, research centres, public administration, authorities etc.) cooperating in the realization of a common project requiring the integration of different technologies in intelligent systems.

TECDOC applied the general results achieved in the research to the definition of Application Platforms able to integrate processes, services and tecnologies for the management of Complex Organization in three specific application domains. According to the local scope of the project (Liguria Region) the targeted application scenarios include:

• Industrial production line management system: ship maintenance (Centralized Complex Organization)
• Distributed logistic management system: multimodal transport systems (Distributed Complex Organization)
• Port management system: public and private port operators (Controlled Complex Organization)

The main objectives of TECDOC can be summarized as follows:

• definition of a methodological framework to analyze, model, design and formalize Complex Organizations
• development of proper technologies to support Complex Organizations activities
• study of Application Platforms to support Complex Organization activities
• design of Application Platforms and realization of a pilot demonstrator (ship maintenance)
