algoWatt, a GreenTech Company listed on the Euronext Milan market of Borsa Italiana, announces that it has been awarded the SAS Hackhaton 2023 in the Global Technology ‘Forecasting’ category, realising a decision support tool for the planning, sizing and operation of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs), together with the University of Genoa and Oakland University. SAS Hackhaton is the global challenge organised by SAS, a leader in analytics, artificial intelligence and the transformation of data into knowledge. Developers, students, startups, customers and SAS partners had the opportunity to use SAS technologies and open source tools to tackle the biggest challenges of today’s world, including digital energy and the new paradigm of RECs, in which algoWatt is the Italian leader. This year, more than 1,400 people from 75 countries applied to take part in the Hackathon, which involved more than 100 teams representing 140 organisations. The teams included experienced data scientists and quantitative experts, as well as business analysts, marketing experts, industry professionals and students. The teams worked with a SAS mentor, using SAS® Viya® – SAS’ cloud-native platform for AI and massively parallel analysis – along with other SAS software, partner technologies, open source tools and the SAS cloud platform. The overall winner of the SAS Hackathon 2023 will be named at SAS Explore, SAS’s AI and analytics technology conference, 11-14 September in Las Vegas.
