TerniEnergia, a company operating in the renewable Energy sector and listed on Star segment of Borsa Italiana is proud to announce that has been selected among 30 italian finalists for the European Business Awards 2012/13. In particular, TerniEnergia competes in the most prestigious category of “The Infosys Business of the Year Award”, given to European companies with a turnover exceeding EUR 150 million who have distinguished themselves for their efforts in sustainable development, strong financial results, and market leadership.
The European Business Awards, totally independent, is strongly supported by organizations involved in promoting business objectives at all levels, economic development, industrial and environmental in UE. Engaged in the evaluation of more than 15,000 companies, most innovative and entrepreneurial in Europe, the judges faced a big job on schedule this year’s event. For the 2012/13 were only 627 companies have passed the initial assessment process to become national finalists in their respective countries. Among the companies selected for Italy also include other company in our region, Umbra Cuscinetti SpA.
Stefano Neri, TerniEnergia’s Chairman and CEO, commented as follows:
“For TerniEnergia is another important recognition of the leadership achieved in Italy in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency. After receiving the award “Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year” for Italy, recognized by the jury of “Ernst &Young Entrepreneur of the Year”, and after having won first place among the Italian companies and the 49th place among 500 companies in Europe, Africa and Middle East (fourth overall in the Greentech sector) in the prestigious Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA, with an increase in sales over the past 5 years of 2.595%, our company receives a new, important Oscar and prestigious recognition in Europe. We believe that the jury of the European Business Awards, in addition to the economic results achieved in recent years, has taken account of the uniqueness of the business model TerniEnergia, making it a unique player in the EU environmental strategies. Thanks to a policy of diversification of activities and full technological independence, TerniEnergia is configured as the only national player active in the three segments of the European Union “Climate Package”, with 216.4 MWp of renewable energy produced, 200 million kWh saved and a reduction of emissions into atmosphere more than 2.4 million CO2. The inclusion among the 30 finalists, “samples” of Italian industry in Europe, encourages us to pursue with great determination the proposed merger of TerniGreen, we just announced, and that represents a strategic element to create the first pure player in the “Green Economy” quoted in Italy, with horizontally integrated activities, high technological value and expertise in clean energy, energy efficiency, and recovery of materials and energy”.
Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards says:
“This is the first year that the European Business Awards has introduced the National Finalists phase of the judging process. This new selection process was introduced for two main reasons; first, it gives entrants a greater opportunity to see their achievements recognised in front of peers, politicians and mediawithin their own countries and second, it gives the judges greater access to the organisations in order to determine a more accurate picture of the very best in European business. As organisers of the awards, we believe this improved strategy further positions the European Business Awards as the most respected and significant awards programme in Europe”.
After rigorous face-to-face presentations assessed in front of a judging panel, the Ruban d’Honneur recipients will be honoured and the names of the Award Winners revealed as Europe’s top businesses at a gala awards ceremony in April 2013.
